UAE Leave Salary Calculator
Find out how much you are paid for your annual leave days, and what unused leave is worth if paid out.
How leave salary works in the UAE
Under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (Labour Law), employees are paid their wage for annual leave days. In practice most employers pay basic salary plus housing allowance for leave, and some pay the full gross salary. Check your employment contract or company policy for which allowances are included.
The daily rate is the monthly amount divided by 30. For example, basic AED 5,000 + housing AED 2,000 = AED 7,000 a month, or AED 233.33 a day. 30 days of leave = AED 7,000.
Unused leave when you leave a job
If your employment ends with unused annual leave, the employer must pay for those days. This payment is calculated on your basic salary only.
Based on UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (Labour Law) for mainland private sector employees. Free zones with their own employment rules (such as DIFC and ADGM), government employees and domestic workers may have different rules. This is an estimate, not legal advice; your employment contract and MOHRE are the final authority. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Is leave salary paid on basic or gross salary?
It depends on your contract. Many UAE employers pay basic salary plus housing allowance for leave days. Payment for unused leave at the end of employment is calculated on basic salary.
How is daily leave pay calculated?
Divide the monthly amount (for example basic + housing) by 30, then multiply by the number of leave days.
Can I get paid instead of taking leave?
Unused leave is paid when your employment ends. During employment, carrying over or paying out leave depends on your employer’s policy and the law’s limits.
